14.02.2020 From the Pacific Ocean to the Tasman Sea...

Valentines' Day - a tough day for me. Too many memories and too many what if's? But what better way to cheer yourself up than a place where they not only have mountain but also pine forests, mud flats and the most beautiful beach along the Tasman Sea. I've seen a lot in the my travels through the North Island but it never ceases to come up with beautiful scenery. I'm almost at he end of this part of my trip as I will be off to the South Island on 18th and am booked to stay in Wellington on 17th and meet my mum's cousin there - so I will have a travel companion for the next four weeks.

I decided that it's time to do the boring stuff like washing and catching up with admin so I am going to be staying in Porirua for three nights - its' on the outskirts of Wellington and is an easy train drive in to see the city. However, on my drive down I stopped of at Foxton Beach. Don't know why - must have read something about it in one of the many guides I have! But I am so glad that I did Foxton Beach and the Manawatu Estuary are all part of a fantastic coastal reserve and with the Tararuha Range in the distance the views were breathtaking. Hardly anyone on the beach which again is a road . Mostly though just me and the birds and lots of dunes and bits of driftwood to keep me happy taking photos. So many different shades of blue on the sea and in the sky. - it really took my breath away. .Sweet pease are out here Caroline Caley xx..

All in all I couldn't have picked a better place to spend Valentines Day.

Spending the day in Wellington tomorrow - will try and update again before I get on the ferry - will let you know as usual. Have a great weekend everyone
